The goals for PCIT include: improvement in the quality of the parent/caregiver and child relationship; increase in child`s pro-social behavior; and decreased parent/caregiver stress. The class is 4 days in length and participants must attend each. First day of class listed, please e-mail margaret@treatingtrauma for the complete schedule.

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an intervention that uses trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive-behavioral therapy. The goal of this intervention is to help children face the unique problems associated with experiencing traumatic life events. In addition, it helps the parent or primary caregiver understand and learn ways to cope with the effects of trauma. This is done by providing skills related to processing the traumatic event; managing distressing thoughts, feelings and behaviors; and enhancing safety, parenting skills and family communication.
